Artist Statement
Kristen Andrews is an oil painter whose work builds mythic ecosystems where landscape and figure share agency. Her work explores stewardship, spectacle, and power - often blurring the line between the sacred and the absurd. Forests watch. Light transmits. Beings arrive with intention. Human figures emerge from environments that are alive and responsive.
Beneath the surface runs a subtle - at times unmistakable - political undercurrent. Authority becomes self-serving. Myth slips into contemporary form. The natural world stands not as backdrop, but as witness.
Her recent work centers on mutual stewardship: the idea that we shape the world around us and are shaped in return.
Bio
Kristen Andrews lives and works in Wendell, Massachusetts, where family, dogs, and an ever-expanding garden shape the rhythms of daily life. She approaches soil much like canvas: as a collaborative system requiring patience, structure, and care.
Painting feeds a persistent creative impulse while serving as a disciplined, meditative practice that steadies a fast-moving mind through sustained attention.
Her work is held in private collections.
